Andrea Strachan is a recognized leader in competency-based assessment and the development of educational programs aligned with professional standards. Since 1996, she has been at the forefront of creating innovative tools and programs designed to assess and enhance workplace skills, particularly for integrating internationally trained professionals into the Canadian workforce. Andrea has collaborated extensively with regulatory bodies, educational institutions, government agencies, and a diverse range of stakeholders to lead design teams in developing innovative competency-based assessments and orientation programs.
In her recent decade-long Executive role at Touchstone Institute in Toronto, Andrea significantly expanded the organization’s offerings in the healthcare sector. Her achievements include spearheading assessments for internationally educated nurses, developing simulated training and orientation programs for healthcare professionals, implementing workplace-based competency assessments for internationally trained doctors, and introducing cultural competency resources for professionals in multicultural settings.
