The role

You will be part of ICAS Assessments’ test development team and help produce a range of mainly online formative and summative literacy assessments (reading, writing, spelling, and grammar and punctuation) for use in educational settings within Australia and internationally. You will also provide your educational and literacy expertise to assist other team members. A strong understanding of assessment principles and how schools and parents use assessment is essential.

This is a full-time 7-month contract (parental leave) with an extension possible.

Other duties include:

  • Be actively involved in managing internal and external item development to ensure successful delivery of assessment projects
  • Train and manage item writers and reviewers (internal and external) and ensure an adequate pool of expertise to deliver assessment materials for a range of products
  • Liaise with other internal teams and with external stakeholders, ensuring that all aspects of test construction are achieved within project timelines, to project specifications and within budget
  • Manage workflow to meet business priorities
  • Work with other team members to raise the level of innovation in items and assessments and encourage student engagement while maintaining accepted psychometric and test design principles
  • Critically review and evaluate assessment materials to ensure all assessments are of the highest quality

About you

You are a creative educator who believes that high-quality engaging assessments can help students to reach their full potential. To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in education and demonstrated teaching experience in English. You will have knowledge of current assessment and reporting issues, locally, nationally and internationally. Experience in primary education and/or experience at all stages of test construction, including the use and production of innovative computer-based educational material, will give you an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively and build relationships. A strong customer focus is a key requirement.
