The role

Reporting to the CTO, the Head of IT Operations is responsible for driving a client centric Engineering operations service to maximise service availability, service quality, security and performance. The role requires an innovative approach to leverage Service Management best practices to deliver value to the business as well as strong customer focus to deliver an exceptional end user experience.

With strong Cloud Enterprise Architecture focus you will ensure strategic and operational infrastructure requirements are planned and delivered for complex projects that deliver solutions which are used by millions of people.

This role is client facing at C-Level, highly involved in the tendering process and is the Subject Matter Technical Lead for Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure, utilising the latest industry standards and techniques to build robust, secure and innovative client solutions.

This role is an integral member of a dynamic executive team and requires a unique individual, someone who is technically adept, commercial and operationally focused, with a strong overarching vision for creating exceptional customer experiences.  A hands-on, strategist able to facilitate the growth of the business, within a clear strategic vision and goal in mind.

Other duties include:

  • Take the Tech Lead on infrastructure related matters for Client Tenders, ensuring deliverability and profitability of solutions. Develop and engage in commercial presentations to clients as required.
  • Provide proactive leadership to help drive change and efficiency improvements, monitor capital expenditure programs, and develop appropriate business cases and ROI reviews.
  • Lead the delivery of accurate and timely client deliverables including onboarding, reporting and query management, ensuring that client needs are continually met and improved, and that relationships with both internally and externally are of high quality.
Infrastructure Management;
  • Effectively lead a mix of complex infrastructure projects from planning to post implementation.
  • Oversee IT operations to ensure effective deployment of services in line with project plans and directly manage incidents that are in danger of breaching contractual agreements.
  • Ensure effective management of IT security, disaster recovery, networks, servers, desktop hardware & software support, database management, quality assurance and communications tools to meet strategic and operational objectives and SLAs.
  • Cloud services management expert including:
    • Azure Elastic Database
    • Azure Cosmos
    • Azure Monitor/Analytics
    • Azure SQL Database
    • Azure Service Fabric
    • Containerisation and kubernetes
  • Experienced in implementing ITSM/ ITIL
Strategy & Planning;
  • Review and continuously develop our technology infrastructure in line with changing business needs, strategic direction and client needs.
  • Review, evaluate and improve Enterprise Architecture, Cloud strategy and security frameworks.
  • Lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Janison’s data and servers.
  • Drive compliance certification throughout the business inclusive of ISM2017 and ISO27001.
  • Drive the CI/CD pipeline implementation and best practises.
  • Proactively provide thought leadership to the Executive, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate Quality Management Systems exist to deliver Janison’s Value Propositions
  • Implemented an outsourced/Staff Lease Level 2/3 support model, with VOIP, self-serve help desk, live chat and support tool (e.g. ZenDesk).
  • Proactively provide thought leadership to the Executive, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate Quality Management Systems exist to deliver Janison’s Value Propositions
  • Proactively lead the tacit and explicit knowledge management strategy, ensuring organisational knowledge capture processes and systems and effective knowledge dissemination and sharing forums to ensure cutting edge solutions and high levels of utilisation.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have a thorough understanding of all aspects of IT infrastructure, system analysis and enterprise architecture, with specific knowledge of Microsoft AZURE infrastructure. Extensive Microsoft Azure skills in Site Recovery Services, Cosmos, SQL Db, elastic scaling, cloud services and IAAS.

Along with this, you will have extensive knowledge of Infrastructure Full Stack – including IT Security, BI reporting, web technologies, Software applications, networks/servers, desktop hardware/software support, systems development and support, database management, automation and scripting, orchestration, disaster recovery, business continuity and communications tools to meet operational and strategic objectives.

You’ll have had previous experience of driving compliance certification throughout the business inclusive of ISM2017 and ISO27001, as well as effectively managing information security vulnerabilities and risk management, including ensuring strong understanding of business process development and governance processes.
