About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join us to provide commercial and tailored advice to nurture our business objectives and shifting external requirements. Depending on the successful candidate’s capability and stage of their career we are open to both permanent full time and/or part time working minimum four days per week.

Some day to day responsibilities will include:

  • assist in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and requests for proposals.
  • ensure compliance with laws and regulations that apply to the business.
  • manage our internal contract management system.
  • assess, manage and communicate legal risks and assist in guiding decisions.
  • monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • develop corporate policies and advise and assist in the development of internal staff training in respect of those policies.
  • drafting website terms and conditions and privacy statements.
  • advising management on a range of Intellectual property risks and infringements.
  • creating and updating templates for contracts and other documents used by sales and other staff.
  • generally to provide legal advice to agreed timeframes relating to general corporate and commercial matters including commercial and, in some instances, procurement contracts as well as governance and policy issues, and employment matters.

Over the past eight years we have been fortunate to have a seasoned in-house Legal Counsel support and protect the commercial and legal responsibilities of the Company. Therefore this role will move forward with an established playing field.

About you

We are searching for someone who is a strong communicator with the ability to share knowledge and offer advice within the company in an understandable way.

Ideally the successful candidate will:

  • have minimum four years post-admission experience and will hold or be entitled to hold an unrestricted practising certificate
  • have the ability to offer creative solutions to complex problems.
  • have experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • be an efficient and organised worker with an ability to prioritise effectively
