The role  

The Item Bank Manager will direct the upgrading and ongoing development of the ICAS Assessments online item bank. This includes incorporating data held in related files outside the Item Bank, into the item metadata. The Item Bank Manager will be expected to be proactive in liaising with technical as well as assessment teams throughout Janison to ensure a supply of high-quality items is available to the Test Development team when needed for use in current and future products.

Duties include:

  • Consult with the Test Development and Analysis & Reporting teams over changes and improvements to metadata categories and content.
  • Consult with the Product team to flag possible adjustments to the authoring interface within Insights that will improve its efficiency and usability for internal and external authors.
  • Optimising data storage for efficient item searches.
  • Assessing data access needs across the ICASA business.
  • Provide advice to Assessment Project Officers on item banking requirements and document relevant item development processes.
  • Maintain records of the number and types of items that the ICASA business has in any form (including those stored in insights and in other formats). Use this information to guide item development projects and assist the Product team to understand the current capacity of the item bank.
  • Oversee the day to day running of projects intended to expand the number and quality of items stored in the item bank.
  • Implement agreed changes to metadata categories, workflows, discipline and module structures within Insights in consultation with stakeholders.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have experience using the Insights platform or with other online Item Bank projects as well as experience with online assessments and knowledge of current assessment and reporting issues. It is essential that you have experience with the use and production of innovative computer-based educational materials.

Ideally you will have primary, secondary or tertiary teaching experience and knowledge of commercial projects developed by ICAS Assessments.

You will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively and build relationships.
