The role

The Schools product owner will be accountable for executing on the vision for Janison’s assessment product for schools. This includes the definition, design and development of features to enhance Janison Insights.

As product owner you will play a vital part in helping build Janison Insights to deliver assessments and student insights to schools worldwide.

We are looking for someone with a passion for education, an eye for beautiful user experiences and a track record of defining quality products. EdTech and SaaS experience will be a great advantage.

With offices around Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Auckland and London you will work as part of a distributed team based out of one of our offices located in Sydney, Coffs Harbour or the Gold Coast.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute on the product vision and strategy, targeting the objectives and goals of the Janison Schools Product.
  • Identify and investigate possible acquisition targets to accelerate our product offering.
  • Accountable for research and presentation of the requirements of a SaaS assessment product for schools.
  • Accountable for the creation and socialisation of the Schools product roadmap with all stakeholders across the business.
  • Remain in touch with the marketplace and be responsible for competitor analysis.
  • Conduct customer and market research to identify potential opportunities and features.
  • Consolidate and manage customer feedback and transform into product ideas to be prioritised.
  • Gather and validate new ideas for the product.
  • Holds the Product Owner role in a SCRUM team, working closely with the tech lead, scrum master, developers and testers to deliver each sprint
  • Accountable for creating epics, wireframes and user stories to be consumed by a development team.
  • Documents new features and create release notes.
  • Accountable, working closely with the UX team, to design the UI of the Janison schools product.
  • Play a leading role in the agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, refinement and review) with the Schools product scrum team.
  • Attend regular cross-product ceremonies around product roadmap, strategy and learning.
  • Support presales activities to identify product market fit, highlight product unique selling points and assess whether development is required.
  • Engage stakeholders from all areas of the business to market, sell, deliver and support the product.

About you

You will have significant experience as a product owner, product manager or business analyst developing, managing and launching products. You have expertise with Agile scrum methodology including epics, user stories, backlog management, sprint board management, sprint reporting and ability to develop user journey maps to assist in designing a great UX.

To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to generate ideas for new products and features, validate the ideas and contribute to a product roadmap. You demonstrated strong business analysis experience, running client workshops to gather requirements and translate them into functional requirements for both the development teams and clients.

You have a proven ability to learn on the go, quickly acquire broad and deep knowledge of a product and excellent presentation skills to demo software to clients

Critical to the success of this role is experience with software releases including documenting release notes and user guides and ability to create wireframes and work with UX/UI designers to create beautiful experiences
