The Role

As the Security Engineer will be responsible for managing and improving the security of Janison systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. You will undertake technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the security space at Janison, to ensure that hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational security controls, enabling Janison to provide and safe and secure environment both internal and external clients.

The role focuses on improving the Janison security posture, by reviewing and implementing controls to comply with a range of security standards such as ISO27001, Australian ISM, GDPR and others.

This role will work closely with the Janison Cyber Security and Data protection officer to create, review, update security documentation and also perform the technical implementation of security controls into the environment.

This role will focus more on the technical aspect of managing security. You will take the lead in implementing the documented security controls into the Janison systems hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

This role will also work with other teams in the business to meet goals such as performing certifications, audits, disaster recovery tests and business continuity tests.

The Security Engineer will be required to work on client systems that are protected by state and/or federal security mechanisms. The individual must hold or be willing/able to obtain relevant security clearances as required

Other duties include:

  • You will perform the technical implementation of security controls as outlined in Janson security documentation and work with the Cyber Security and Data protection officer to create, review and update security documentation
  • Maintain the technical security controls on systems and infrastructure such as system updates, firewalls, antivirus, Web Application Firewall, SSO, MFA/2FA and other technical security controls
  • Regularly review and address recommendations from Azure Security Center
  • Perform regular vulnerability scanning, penetration and disaster recovery tests
  • Assist with business continuity tests
  • Assist with security audits on the Janison systems and infrastructure
  • Implement new security tools and systems in line with the business goals and budget
  • Maintain compliance with set security standards; ISO27001, Australian ISM and GDPR
  • Maintain Azure Security Center score of at least 70%
  • Perform regular Disaster Recovery, Penetration and Vulnerability tests
  • Maintains technical security controls of all Janison systems,
  • Employee engagement of >7.5

About you

To be successful in the role you will have experience with implementing and maintaining security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Australian ISM, GDPR, and ITIL.

You will also have strong operational experience for managing the security of IT systems such as Windows Server 2008-2019, network switches, network firewalls, antivirus systems, Web Application Firewalls, DNS, Group Policy, Active Directory, SSO, MFA, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft IIS web servers, Microsoft SQL databases, and experience with maintaining security documentation and standards.

It is desirable to have experience in managing the security of Azure cloud resources, such as Azure AD, Azure Security Center, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL, Azure VNets, Azure Storage and Frontdoor.
