The role

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure, enabling Janison internal and external clients to consume IT services. You will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

You will also play an integral role in supporting and collaborating with the development and architecture teams to during the project planning phase and assists project teams with technical issues identified during project delivery phases. These activities include technical analysis and design, and executing, testing, and deploying solutions. You will have well-developed communication skills with the ability to connect with both technical and non-technical team members and clients.

To be successful in this role, you will have advanced skills in:

  • Designing, deploying and managing high scale IaaS and PaaS environments in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Installing, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting systems related to hosting websites including Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL Server and database, DNS, file storage, SFTP, and SSL certificate management
  • Installing, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting other administration systems including Windows Server 2008 and onwards, Hyper-V, VNETs, firewalls, DHCP, Active Directory, Domain Controllers, ADFS, and Office365.
  • Experience in managing network services and technologies such as Imperva, Verizon and WatchGuard
  • Experience in system automation tools including Windows PowerShell, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Runbooks, and Azure Data Factory
  • Experience in designing and managing solutions to comply security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Australian ISM and ITIL.

You will have relevant tertiary or industry qualifications, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, and experience. This can include a degree or higher in IT, Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE or others).

It is essential to this role that you hold or be willing/able to obtain, relevant security clearances as you will be required to work on client systems that are protected by state and/or federal security mechanisms.
