Diane Joseph
Chair, Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority (VCAA)
Diane Joseph is a highly regarded education leader having held a breadth of positions over her forty year career across Australian education and public service, including as Director-General of Education and Training in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
With extensive experience in strategy, governance and leadership development, Diane is currently Chair of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), Advisory Board Chair for the ACT Government, and an Independent Member on the Australian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (ACARA) Future National Assessment Project Control Board.
Appointed by Australia’s education minsters as Chair of the Board for Education Services Australia Ltd (ESA) from 2017 to 2024, Diane made significant contributions to national education reform.
Diane’s governance experience includes being a Director for the Australian Council for Educational Leadership (ACEL), the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), the Canberra Institute of Technology, and the ACT Teacher Quality Institute.
In 2015 Diane received The Palmes Académiques Chevalier (Knight of the French Order), from the French Government for eminent service to bi-lingual education. In 2005 Diane was the recipient of the Victorian Education Excellence Outstanding School Leadership Award.
