Casual Invigilators – multiple locations across NSW
Test Dates: 1–2 May, 8–9 May, 22 May 2026
Chief Invigilators: must also be available for Thursday bump-ins prior to each testing event.
Training: Mandatory paid online and face-to-face training
About the Role:
Be part of a state-wide, high-stakes educational assessment team! The Department of Education’s Selective Schools Placement Test is a computer-based assessment delivered across NSW schools. We are seeking professional, reliable, and student-focused individuals to join our 2026 invigilation team.
We have multiple roles available to suit different experience levels:
- Chief Invigilator – Senior onsite leader managing all test centre operations and staff
- Lead Invigilator – Section-level supervisor supporting the Chief and managing a team of invigilators
- Invigilator – Frontline staff supporting students, monitoring exams, and ensuring procedural compliance
Key Responsibilities:
Chief Invigilator
- Lead all test centre operations and supervise the invigilation team
- Deliver team briefings and debriefings
- Coordinate with Department of Education and Janison Exam Management (JEM)
- Ensure all devices, systems, and examination materials are ready
- Monitor and resolve technical or procedural issues
Lead Invigilator
- Supervise invigilators in assigned sections
- Support student check-in, seating, and test delivery
- Conduct device and software readiness checks
- Monitor student behaviour and escalate issues to Chief Invigilator
Invigilator
- Guide students through check-in, seating, and examination procedures
- Monitor candidate conduct and examination compliance
- Provide basic technical assistance (logins, devices)
- Escalate incidents as required
- Manage examination delivery in separate rooms for students with approved adjustments for separate room invigilator
- Implement reasonable adjustments accurately and consistently
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and compassionate environment
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with primary school-aged children preferable
- Calm, professional, and attentive, with strong communication skills
- Comfortable using computer-based systems and following structured procedures. Technical confidence with exam software
- Leadership or supervisory experience for Chief and Lead Invigilator roles
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) – required
- Have no affiliation with tutoring or coaching schools/colleges
- Chief Invigilators: teaching qualifications desirable
- Prior experience in invigilating or supervising computer-based testing is highly desirable
