Senior App Developer
Position Summary
The Senior Apps Developer is responsible for delivering high quality technology solutions that support client requirements, the technical direction, quality, reliability and evolution of Janison’s mobile and device-based applications.
In this role you will specialise in the design, development and support of mobile and device-based applications, including native and cross-platform solutions. You will work on applications that operate in high-stakes, time-critical environments, often with device constraints, offline operation, performance considerations, and accessibility requirements.
You will be expected to provide hands-on leadership within the team ,and apply strong engineering judgement to balance user experience, reliability, security, and operational risk across mobile platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities
Platform Enhancement (Coding):
- Design, build and maintain mobile and device-based applications (iOS and/or cross-platform) used in large-scale, high-concurrency environments.
- Develop solutions that account for device performance constraints, OS lifecycle changes, app store requirements, and offline/low-connectivity scenarios
- Ensure applications are resilient to OS upgrades, device fragmentation, and hardware variability.
- Review existing/new code and provide constructive feedback to continuously improve team output.
- Actively ididentify and reduce technical debt in mobile and shared application layers
- Where appropriate, integrate automation or AI into mobile applications to improve user experience or operational efficiency, applying sound engineering judgement and fallback behaviours.
- Establish mobile engineering standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks
Sprints :
- Diagnose and resolve production issues across apps, devices, and backend integrations, including issues related to device-specific behaviours in production environments during large-scale events.
- Participate in post-incident reviews, contributing to systemic improvements rather than one-off fixes
Stakeholders & Communication:
- Provide ongoing, timely, clear/concise, proactive and reactive updates to both internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Review project communication/ documentation providing constructive feedback to ensure quality.
- Participate in stakeholder workshops where required.
Team Collaboration:
- Build team competency by providing guidance, establishing and evolving app development standards, patterns, and shared components.
- Lead and coach developers on apps/mobile architecture, testing strategies, and performance optimisations.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality, testing, and documentation, while maintaining accountability for all delivered outcomes.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Strong experience building native or cross-platform applications
- Strong understanding of mobile application lifecycles and familiarity with app store release processes, versioning, and deployment strategies
- Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues in mobile environments
- Experience integrating mobile applications with backend APIs and web platforms, including authentication, and versioned APIs
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a willingness to mentor and coach team members
Desirable:
- Experience building applications that support offline usage, synchronisation, and intermittent connectivity
- Experience with mobile testing strategies (device testing, automation, performance profiling)
- Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities into mobile or device-based applications
- Experience with .NET MAUI (Microsoft’s Multi-platform App UI)
