Product Manager
Position Summary
As Product Manager for Reporting, you’ll own the client-facing reporting experience across Janison’s assessment products – the reports, dashboards, exports and certificates that schools, education systems and government bodies rely on to understand and improve student outcomes. It’s an end-to-end product spanning design, front end and the data that feeds it, serving government education bodies and large organisations across Australia and globally.
You’ll lead a small team of product owners and analysts, prototype reports hands-on using AI-assisted tooling, and can look at a chart or table and say precisely why it does or doesn’t work. You’ll collaborate closely with scrum teams to deliver reporting that clients trust.
This role is flexible within Australia, with preference for Sydney, Melbourne, or Coffs Harbour. Core overlap with Australian Eastern time is required, along with occasional travel to client sites and team locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for Reporting, prioritising based on client needs and business impact
- Lead a team of product owners and analysts: set clear expectations, make prioritisation calls, and grow people who can own their product end-to-end
- Drive discovery with enterprise and government clients to surface high-value opportunities, and support pre-sales in assessing product-market fit
- Lead scope and priority negotiations with large government and enterprise clients — holding the line on real user value and commercial outcomes, and escalating with a clear recommendation when trade-offs are needed
- Own the reporting component library as a product: design and prototype reports that turn complex assessment data into clear, trusted insight for teachers, school leaders and system administrators
- Own data accuracy and trust as a product outcome, defining what ‘correct’ means for each report and partnering with engineering and psychometrics to ensure it
- Engage directly with government and enterprise stakeholders to shape requirements
- Identify strategic opportunities through market and competitive analysis, and drive process improvements across the product team
About You
Essential:
- 5+ years in product management, including experience building and leading product teams
- AI-literate and hands-on with modern AI tooling to mock up reports, explore data and draft requirements
- Enough data literacy to interrogate a dataset, sanity-check a number and hold a credible conversation with data engineers
- Comfortable working in distributed teams across multiple time zones
- Confident, constructive negotiator across technical and non-technical audiences – comfortable presenting strategy to leadership and engaging senior client and government stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in both discovery and delivery – translating client and business needs into shipped product requirements
- Strong design sensibility: hands-on with Figma and prototyping tools, comfortable critiquing charts and tables with UX
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, technology, design, education, or similar). Note: Equivalent experience and demonstrated capability are valued over formal credentials.
Desirable:
- Experience owning a reporting, analytics or data-visualisation product in a B2B or SaaS context, ideally at government or enterprise scale
- Experience in education, EdTech, or assessment industries
- Experience with BI or data-visualisation tools
- Working knowledge of assessment data concepts (e.g. scaled scores, performance bands, growth measures)
