Who supplies the online test devices?

Students use their own test devices in most cases. But you can provide your own, or we can provide them to your students in some cases.

Can you run remote exams on software from other companies?

Yes – we can run online exams on any remote proctoring or assessment platform. We’ll work with you and the software providers to understand how the technology works.

Who are your remote invigilation services for?

Our invigilation services support any organisation that sets assessments and needs remote exam management. While we often work with universities, schools and professional associations, we can manage exams across all industries.

How much time do you need to organise an exam?

We ideally need a minimum of two weeks. But this varies greatly depending on the size and complexity of your exam.

Finally, students can also be prevented from accessing specific websites or apps using a locked-down browser – provided it’s part of the software setup.

How are attempts at misconduct handled?

We manage misconduct attempts according to the rules outlined in your Quality Assurance policy, which we can help you create if you need.

How exactly are students supported?

Students can request support from our human proctors through live chat or over the phone, on issues like accessing the test, frozen screens and more. If they’re unable to help, our proctors can escalate the request to a higher level of support.

How do you help students with special accommodations?

Our team undertakes online disability certification and training to ensure students with accommodations receive the appropriate support for their assessments.

What are the device requirements for students?

Device requirements vary depending on the remote exam proctoring software and assessment platform. Once we understand which technology you’re using, we can provide a clear list of technical requirements and step-by-step instructions.

However, at a minimum, remotely-proctored exams require a laptop with a webcam, microphone and mouse.

What student data does the remote proctoring software capture?

What is remote online proctoring?

Remote online proctoring (also called live online proctoring) is when an online exam or assessment is digitally supervised and administered via the internet and the test-taker’s web camera.

It’s made possible by a combination of AI face-recognition technology and the test-taker’s in-built web camera. AI helps identify any suspicious behaviour and flag irregularities through data forensics, including facial recognition, keystroke pattern recognition, voice-to-text transcription, and eye movement detection that may indicate that the candidate is reading unauthorised materials.
